Week 1:
Jerico has suffered very severe Trauma to his
brain, broken ribs, a punctured lung and a separated Shoulder. The
doctors removed a 4 inch section of Jerico's skull do to a Subdural hematoma.
Essentially his brain formed a blood clot and caused his brain to hemorrhage
and put pressure on his brain. He was been on Deprivan,
Morphine, IV Drip, Feeding Tube and Respirator all week. The surgeons
placed a filter in one of his veins to keep any blood clots from forming in
his legs and passing to his lungs. This was a very difficult week and I
am leaving a lot of the details out. It's hard to recall at
this point (two week since the accident) what day, what happened. It was
a long week of good news, then bad news, good news, then bad news ect...
Week 2:
This week started out following the same trend
as the first week. Then early Thursday morning Jerico suffered a stroke.
The doctors met with Dana and his parents to discuss the options at this
point. From what I believe this was the point when the Dr.'s gave up all
hope, and the family was able to hand over Jerico's fate to the Lord.
Jerico remained on his Respirator, IV, Feeding Tube and the Prayer of all the
friends and family. Sunday night Jerico had another rough
evening, that has proven to be another important blessing from the Lord.
Through a prayer for a sign of what to do next, Jerico was taken off his
respirator. Now with the help of everyone's prayers he is continuing his
recovery with only his feeding tube, IV and an oxygen mask. He was moved
from the ICU Sunday about 2am to a private room on the neuro trauma floor.
He is still in a coma but has started showing some responsiveness. Dana (his wife) has taken over as nurse with the aid his friends and family.
The nurses do come in on occasion but for the most part he is now under the
care of nurse Dana. It is tough to put into words the emotions we have
all been through the past couple of weeks. Jerico is a strong man with a
faith in the Lord to match.
Thursday, May 31, 2007:
Jerico has been making small but steady
improvements this week. He was taken off of his oxygen mask early
Wed. morning, and is doing very well with his oxygen level. His
improvements may only be a twitch of his finger or a blink of his eye but
these are monumental when you consider that only days ago the Dr.'s told the
family he no longer had any brain function at all. Jerico's has been
clamping his jaw closed since Sunday making it impossible to suction out his
mouth when he would cough up the fluids from his lungs. When he coughs
up this fluid it gathers in his throat making very difficult for him to
breathe properly. Dana has learned from the nursing staff how to suction
this fluid out by going in through his nostril with a tube. This does
cause Jerico some discomfort, but is encouraging to see because he is reacting
to the irritation by moving his arms. As mentioned before he has kept
his jaw closed tightly it seems almost as if he is doing so in protest to the
respirator tube he had down his throat which was visibly causing him
discomfort. The family prayed that the Lord help Jerico to know they
were not putting any tubes back down his throat and that is was okay for him
to open his mouth. Within minutes of the prayer they noticed that not
only had he relaxed his jaw but had opened his mouth about an inch and a half
and was breathing in full breathes orally. It's the small gifts from God
such as this, that is keeping us optimistic in our faith that the Lord is with
him.
Saturday, June 2, 2007:
On June 1st around 11am Jerico passed away. Jerico was a truly an amazing Son, Husband, Father, Brother and Friend. He has
changed all of us in many different ways.
Jerico was able to make each and everyone one of us feel comfortable, loved,
and truly special when around him. Jerico will still be with us forever, as
he has changed our daily ways in how we live. In my personal experience
with Jerico as my best friend for the past almost 15 years, I do things daily
that Jerico did that make me smile and will continue to make me smile. We
where all truly blessed with Jercio here on earth, and will be again when we all
come together when the Lord comes back.
We would all like to personally thank everyone for there prayers. Being there
with Jerico and his family these past 19 days has been a miracle. We were able
to be with Jerico and know that the Lord was there watching over us, and
taking care of everyone. Our prayers where answered each and everyday.
So in closing for this message, please continue to pray for one another and
for the Littrell family. The road head will continue to be long and bumpy, but
with the strength of all the people that Jerico brought together and the help
of the Lord we will be able to get through this.
Thank you all,
Wayco Eugene Yarber
Thank you to everyone that
came out Sunday, June 24th to Brushy Mountain for the benefit ride. I know Jerico
was with each of us Sunday as we tore it up on the track and trails.
Nothing would make him happier than to see all the smiles (and occasional Oh
@#%&'s).
A Special Thank you goes out
to BMMS for all their support.
Please keep checking back for details on the next
ride.
Special Thanks to Center Road
Saturday, July 14th CRMX
Motocross allowed us to sell Hot Dog and Hamburger Plates during the final
MX race of the summer series. As if this wasn't enough they also
donated several sets of MX gear that they auctioned off during intermission
raising a combined total of over $1,200 to donate to wife and baby daughter of
Jerico. We can't thank CRMX enough for their kindness. This act of
generosity is truly inspirational and reminds us that the MX community is more
than just another sport, it is truly a family.
